My friend Laura and I are always talking about how we have tons of ideas for craft projects but rarely sit down to work on them. So recently we decided to get together for a "crafternoon" and finally get some creative work done. (The last time we did this was back in February to make Valentine's Day cards.) On a quiet Friday afternoon, Laura and I chatted, worked on our respective projects, and enjoyed having a little "girl time." She sketched out ideas for homemade Christmas gifts, and I made miniature topiaries...
I am totally into decorating the house with topiaries. They bring a bit of life to a room like a plant does, but don't require any watering or care. I already have two "life size" boxwood topiaries that my Mom purchased for me from Tuesday Morning, but I thought that it would be fun to have some smaller ones too.
I made my topiaries with moss, styrofoam balls, a hot glue gun, pots from the local hardware store, and sticks from our front yard. I think they turned out pretty darn cute. And you can put them just about anywhere. Versatility!
Here they are on the console table in the entryway...
In the office...
And in our two bathrooms...
Such a fun project! And one of the best parts about it was that the topiaries were easily completed in one afternoon. Instant gratification! Yes!
I *heart* topiaries.
And I *heart* crafternoons with fun girlfriends.
Speaking of fun and friends, here's a pic from this past week of me and Trav with Laura and her husband, Stephen. They came over for dinner and as always, we had a great time. We love these guys and are so grateful for their friendship!
