Happy Valentine's Day!

This year Travis and I didn't make any significant plans for Valentine's Day. The holiday kind of snuck up on us, truth be told. Although when I came home from work this evening my thoughtful husband did surprise me with a few treats...a Starbucks gift card, a cupcake, Ben & Jerry's icecream, flowers, and a new DVD. Okay, that's actually more than a few! And this is after our conversation this morning about the fact that we had both pretty much forgotten about Valentine's Day and we both agreed that it was no big deal. But he went out this afternoon and got me presents anyways. What a guy! What did I get him, you ask? Wellll... His birthday is in 2 weeks so I'll just have to make that really good.

The one Valentine-sy thing that I did do this year was make some cards with girlfriends last Thursday. It was super fun! I love doing creative projects, and with girl chatter and hot tea to accompany them it's just that much better. It reminded me of putting together valentines for classmates at school, which was always a lot of fun. Because we made cards on Thursday it didn't give me time to mail them out, but now I have something to start with for next year. I had the idea to use my old book pages (once again), and do some hand-stitched embroidery to make them extra special. Here are the finished products...

My friends Lauren and Laura hard at work. What cuties.

Hope someone you love out there made your day special today. Happy Valentine's Day!

Super cute cards! Crafting is something that I just don't have the patience for (I think doing graphic design for a living ruined me in the craft arena), but I enjoy seeing other people's creativity :-)
