Seriously now. On a recent trip into Colorado's purple mountain majesties, my father-in-law took some splendid photos. They are in fact so splendid that I feel obliged to share them with you, my dear friends. As we greet the autumnal season that is now upon us, I give you my "Ode to Fall" in the form of Steve Black's photographic genius. Enjoy...
Glorious! Travis and I should probably think about moving back to Colorado at some point, huh? Just look at this place!
But really, all of that beauty makes me think of this...
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." (Romans 1:20)
"Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God." (Psalm 90:5)
"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor...O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" (Psalm 8:3-5, 9)
And this...
"Someone or something has romanced us from the beginning with creek-side singers and pastel sunsets, with the austere majesty of snowcapped mountains and the poignant flames of autumn colors telling us of something--or someone--leaving, with a promise to return. These things can, in an unguarded moment, bring us to our knees with longing for this...someone or something only our heart recognizes." (from The Sacred Romance by Brent Curtis and John Eldredge)
Right on. That's what it's all about, is it not?
Happy fall, friends! May this new season make you evermore aware of His presence, and move you to draw closer therein.
