Finito

Okay, this is my last post about running for awhile. Promise. But I guess it's just a reflection of what we've been up to lately!

So this past Sunday was the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler. We had a great time! And I can now say that I have successfully completed my first race. Wahoo! My definition of "successful" for this race was to finish and have a good time. And we did just that. We took a slow and steady pace (10:49...which is pokey but who cares) and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery. I love my man for going slow with me and staying by my side even though he could have gone much, much faster.

I also loved the camaraderie I felt with all of the other runners. So many different shapes and sizes, different ability levels, but everyone there was enthusiastic and encouraging and it was cool to do something like that with such a big group of people. I felt like we were all on a team together even though we were strangers.

Here are pictures from the big day. We checked our bag in (with our camera in it) before the race started, and I didn't think to take pictures of the larger scene before we did that, so there are a couple that I stole from another blog to show what we saw while running.

Waiting to hop on the train, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

Sunrise on the Mall.

Our friend Brian told us to turn around and put our arms around each other. And what a good idea! Makes for a fun picture.

A few days before the race we found out that Brian was running it as well, so we met up in the morning and did the first 4 miles together.

Stunning.

This is after we finished. Yippee! We did it!

Chatting as we make our way back to the Hill for some breakfast.

These pancakes were scrumptious (and well-deserved in my opinion). As you can see, there wasn't much leftover!

And finally, here are some random pictures of the loveliness that is spring in DC. We've been surrounded by beautiful blooms the last few weeks and I'm just eating it up.

View from our deck. Baby buds pushing their way through.

Spring just makes me feel all happy and twitter-pated. It's a really enjoyable season.
