'Cause We Need A Little Christmas...

...right this very minute! Hm hmm, hm-hm hm hm hm....Okay. Don't know the rest of the song. In fact, that first part is the only part I know.

This will be a relatively quick post. I am surprised by how quickly the time goes and how easy it is to think about blogging but not actually do it. I am impressed with all you bloggers who actually get posts out there every few days. This blogging thing is going to take some practice.

As a follow up to my previous post I thought that I would share the tiny bit of decorating that I did around our condo this past Saturday. Our place isn't very big, so it actually doesn't take much to make it feel like Christmas around here. Last week my sweet husband spent an hour digging through the previously mentioned death-trap that is our storage unit (without me even mentioning a word about it!) in order to fish out our box of Christmas decorations. He sure knows how to love on me. It's all about the acts of service for this girl (reference to The Five Love Languages, for those of you who haven't read it).

We don't have a tree, but I'm still contemplating getting one. According to me, you can leave your Christmas stuff up until at least mid-January because it's so pretty and fun. This means that if I get a tree soon enough, I could still have a month or so to enjoy it!

So Saturday was spent decorating a little, and then our precious friends Eric and Sara came out from Leesburg to spend the evening with us. We tried to see an ice sculpture display out at National Harbor, but the line was too long so we quickly vetoed that option. But we did get mediocre pictures in front of the giant Christmas tree they have set up out there, and the boys got icecream at Ben & Jerry's so all was good. Once home, we enjoyed homemade turkey and wild rice soup (I love soup season!) and played games.

Now, without further adieu, a glimpse into our somewhat more decked halls...

Walking into our condo. Welcome! Make yourself at home!

Close up of console table/wintery scene (with cutie pie hubby reflected in the mirror). My aunt made the quilt on the tabletop and it is gorgeous. I used it here because I thought that it looked like snow.

Not much going on in the guest bath, but a red ribbon around the topiary and some pinecones did the trick. I am in love with the green we picked out for the bathroom. So fresh and clean looking.

The piano.

I love to fill up hurricanes with seasonal items. Candy canes and almonds this time around. "O Holy Night" is the music on the piano. My favorite Christmas song.

The lantern on the floor is hard to see because it's dark, but it's filled with pinecones and silver ball ornaments just like the one on the console table. Both lanterns were used in my sister's wedding over the summer...a fun memento!

Close up of snowflakes on my "twigs." My mom and I made these together over Thanksgiving. She makes the prettiest snowflakes! They're actually made out of old encyclopedia book pages. More on this later when I do a post about how I'm kind of obsessed with using old book pages to decorate with.

Paper snowflakes on the door leading out to our deck. Reliving elementary school a little bit here. (Recall: "Oh paper snowflakes taped to the classroom window...what joy you brought!")

Pointsettia on our dining table. I am partial to the white ones these days. No offense, red and pink ones.

Sleepless in Seattle on the tv. Love, love, love this movie. A favorite to watch while folding laundry, which is what I was doing this evening.

Out at National Harbor. Can't really see the tree in the background, but these guys sure are cute!

Little bit of tree action here, with the Potomac in the background. Alexandria is across the water. Hello, Virginia! (proclaimed from Maryland)

P.S. Sorry that some of the pictures are so dark. Too lazy to edit photos right now!

I love the cozy decorations and decor in general. A visit may have to be in order! :) At least halfway...and we REALLY do need to actually do it. Hope you two have a very Merry Christmas!

YAY!! okay, now i have that song in my head! i love the lanterns filled with seasonal things...i have been wanting to get one...they're really popular at pottery barn right now. i saw one at marshalls a couple of months ago for $5 and i SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT! but i could not think of what to put in it. then i remembered i bought some fake cranberries half off at crate and barrel after last christmas and they would have been perfect! you've inspired me to try to find one now!! :-) love your decor! thanks for sharing, friend!

ps. yes, the time does get away from you easily in blog land. i usually start posts and save them as drafts when i think about it and then finish them up when i have time...that's the only way to keep my semi-regular.

Your place looks lovely. I've always wanted to take a book I love and paste the pages on the wall as a sort of wallpaper. I saw it done really well once in an old bookstore. It was fantastic. But mine would probably end up looking like I was an obsessed person or something. But I think it could be done in a casual sort of office (not that I have a room for that right now). I think you should definitely get a tree....it just makes a house perfect for Christmas. But your condo looks delightfully holidaylicious.

Love the "tour" and cannot wait to see it in person. Lets rendevous this spring when the weather is a bit nicer. :)
