Obligatory New Blog Post

As all new bloggers seem to do, I am welcoming myself to the world of blogging with the obligatory "new blog post." I think that my reasons for starting a blog fall in line with others'...

  • We've been living away from our families and many friends for the last 5 years and this seems to be a fun way to keep up with happenings, new pictures, etc.

  • I've really enjoyed reading others' blogs in the last year or so and find myself learning so much through what my friends and family share in writing. I like reading the updates, but more than that I'm touched by the deeper content that inevitably comes through (i.e. what's really in the hearts of those that I care about).
  • Documentation of our life together. I have kept a written journal since high school, but don't seem to get around to keeping track of events (and even just daily life) through pictures nearly as often. Hopefully this blog will help me to take more pictures, and maybe even learn how to take good ones.
  • It's an avenue for me to ramble, which I kind of like to do at times.
  • Creative outlet. Enough said.

And now I also feel that I must explain the title of my blog because at first glance it might not register as having anything to do with me. It boils down to my not wanting to include my name in the title and my tendency to rely heavily upon the thesaurus when writing. In college I was one of those people who would use a thesaurus constantly while writing a paper in order to find the exact word that would articulate my thoughts...or sometimes just a big word that sounded good and with any luck would make my professor think that I knew what I was talking about.

Anyways, after chewing on it for awhile and scouring the online thesaurus, I stumbled across "noodling around," which means "to improvise, experiment, or think creatively." It is also synonymous with such words as "ruminate, contemplate, envision, ponder," etc. All good words. And that's what this blog is for me--an experiment in creativity and a place to muse. Oh...and I like noodles. I mean, who doesn't?

So there you have it. More information than you really wanted about why I am now blogging and how the title of this blog came to be. Consider this proof of the aforementioned propensity to ramble. Now on to the good stuff (i.e. more interesting posts that will include photographic tidbits)...

Yea! Welcome to blogging Jillian :-) I started my blog right after Ryan and I got married and it is fun to look back over the last 5.5 years and to re-read some adventures that we have had!
